This beer poured out as a nice looking hazy orange color. The head was fizzy and kind of faded away rather quickly. The smell of the beer had some nice lively citrus aromas blended with a soft wheat character as well. The taste of the beer has a light herbal flavor to it with an orange or lemon flavor in there as well. The mouthfeel of this beer is smooth and lighter bodied. Overall this beer is pretty good for the warmer seasons. I would drink this one again if I found it at a reasonable price.

I've never been disappointed with a DFH beer, and I'm not here, but I don't have much to talk up about this beer either. It is a witbier, its made to style, its refreshing; however, I've come to expect a lot from DFH. I guess I was a little let down that it was just a witbier, there wasn't that layered complexity or interesting ingredient that shined through. Maybe I'm being too hard, it is beer and its very drinkable.

Poured a nice sunny hazy gold with a fizzy white head. There was fair head retention with lasting lacing around the glass. The aroma had lemongrass, citrus and yeast. The flavor was similar to aroma with lemon and yeast, some malt sweetness that complimented the creamy mouthfeel and slight alcohol presence.

Namaste - 2011 1083 from notes

A- Slight hazy golden straw pour, tiny chunks floating around in suspension. Three finger fluffy white head recedes to thin cap quickly. Lacing is awesome.

S- Lemon and oranges, yeast and typical wheat beers.

T- Lemon and oranges, earthy grass notes. Typical wit taste.

M- Medium to thin bodied, lively carbonation.

O- Nothing special, nothing wowing, just an alright beer, strange for dfh not adding their own flair to this.

A - Clear straw, stark white head, lots of cling lace.

S - Light spices and malt.

T - The spices become much more apparent in taste. Coriander and lemongrass are very noticeable. Malt in middle, and spicy finish.

M - Light bodied, good carb, good balance.

D - Not my favorite, but an interesting beer!

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a goblet, can't read the bottled date. This pours a slightly hazy straw light color with a short lived white head. The smells are of corriander, orange and spices. The feel is medium to light. The taste is okay a little orange and ripe orange bitterness, some lemon grass, pretty light flavors for dogfish head, not their best.

Pours a clear golden color with a big white head that dissipates quickly. The smells is very sweet with lemon and grass. Also clove is detected. The Taste is mostly a combination of the grass and lemon. It is very interesting, I dont like it but I dont hate it. The beer is very drinkable and has a good mouthfeel. Overall decent but didnt win me over to buy it regularly. Its definitely more of a summer beer too.

A- Looks like a dark lemonade, with a white head. It is very cloudy.
S- Nice refreshing citrus smell. It is a mix between the orange and lemon.
T- I think the lemon is a little too strong in the flavor. A hint of the wheat comes through at times in the taste.
MO- Drinkable but not as refreshing as many other wits. I wouldn't turn it down.

Strong smell of lemon-orange. Mouth feel was a bit too carbonated. But taste of the lemongrass and orange peel were definitely present and added some interesting flavor. A little too yeasty also but overall I enjoyed this. Not typically a fan of this style but a very intriguing offer from Dogfish. Wouldn't buy the bottle again but would have it if it was on tap somewhere.

Lemon gold color, very light. 1-finger white head with little retention. Nice thin lace all around the glass.

Coriander, lemon peel, wheat grass dominate the nose. Faint citrus bite from the lemons.

Spice hit right up front. Mead like, without the body. Honey, lemon, a little pepper, and then a moderately fizzy finish. Slightly cloying at the back end.

Thinner than what I would expect from the style, even with the sticky finish.

One and done here. Granted, this probably would taste better if it wasn't so dang cold outside.

Poured at basement temp in snifter

A: cloudy, lemony yellow; thin head; powerful carbonation; not much lacing
S: lemon, yeast, bottle conditioning
T: light, spritzy coriander; dry; light; somewhat thin-flavored (surprising to me, given it's a DFH)

Overall, a classy white beer; ideal for a meal where you want a lighter, pleasantly spiced beer to accompany the food

Poured a murky dull yellow in my pint glass...decent head that did not last...but pretty agressive lacing. Kinda liked the "yeastie boys" floating around.

Getting alot of typical witbier scents...but nothing out of the ordinary...clove, some banana, peppery spices and a bit of lemon. Wanted more out of this one...

Taste follows...did not pack the punch i wanted. Some lemony freshness and coriander spices, but again, did not bowl me over.

I did like the uber carbonation in this one...pretty refreshing on a hot Texas night. It's quite possible that this style just doesn't do it for me. Similar to a hefe, but felt just a bit off overall.

750ml bottle. Bottled in 2012. Served in a tulip.

Pours a hazy pale honey-gold with a finger of bright white foam. Settles to a thin pillowy covering. Some nice lacing left in the glass.

Aroma of slightly-sour fruit, lemony citrus, peppery spices. Seems right for a wit style.

Flavor begins with the slight sourness that was picked up in the nose. Followed by some citrus acidity. Finishes with some lemon citrus and bitterness. Overall a very light flavor.

Fairly light bodied with medium, slightly-spritzy carbonation. Very drinkable.

The label definately catches the eye thats for sure. Between the name and nice picture I picked this dogfish head up immediately. Sadly, wasnt really a fan. This was poured into a pint glass.

A - Pours a glorious light straw that almost seems to radiate with a yellow hue, complete with little bubbles coming up from the bottom. The head though is where this wit is really, really lacking. Starts off with a nice one finger head that quickly disappeared leaving a slight white halo. Very disappointing for a witbier.

S - While I'm not a fan of it, I have to give this high marks based on the fact that this DOES smell of corriander and lemongrass. Right after that initial yeasty wit aroma.

T - Upfront, I get some nice mild wheat and an almost bitter orange rind taste. Right after that theres an herbal flavour that is distinctly a combination of well, corriander and lemongrass. While the flavours are what Dogfish Head promised, it just really isnt making for an enjoyable beer for me.

M - For the amount of carbonation in this I was expecting something ALOT more crisp and refreshing. Just kinda sits in the mouth, almost watery.

D - Its a good beer, if the flavour combination is yout thing. For me it just didnt work. Maybe paired with the right food it would pop a little better. The flavour is spot on, but that mouthfeel is just far too thin.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into an oversized wine glass. Pours a pale pineapple yellow with a 1/2" head that quickly dissipates.

Has a spicy, aromatic aroma, heavy coriander, lemon grass and allspice, with an underlying earthiness.

Light tasting, fairly aromatic, with notes of coriander, orange blossom water, lemon, and grass. To call it spicy is to understate it; this is like inhaling a spice cabinet.

Thin mouthfeel, with no bitterness profile. This beer is all about taste, not feel.

Another extremely different brew from DFH, while quite interesting, not sure I'd get this one again.

A: Pours a nice hazy golden color with two thumbs of thick white head with excellent retention and god lacing.

S: This smell like a wit, with huge generous amounts of coriander and tangy orange. It leaves me thinking of Brussels.

T: The taste is very similar to the aroma with an extra yeasty flavor that mingles with the grainy wheat. You get all that zesty orange and deep coriander lingering.

M: Nice carbonation with a light body and dry finish.

D: Not my favorite Dogfish Head but one of the nicest wit's that I have had.

Another beer I was happy to discover by DFH, found this at From the Vine. Review from notes.

Bottled in 2010 2A

Cloudy, wet straw color - a yellow gold with burnt orange hues and some yeast floaties. Small cap of white foam, receded quickly back into the brew. Some sticky legs but no real lace.

Smelled like bright and soft saison. Doughy Belgian yeast, slightly spiced. Some orange, lemon, and mild clove.

The taste is where this beer shines. It is sweet and floral, not too yeasty. There's sweet orange blossom, honey, with a funky saison-style finish. Lemongrass comes through adding an herbal grassiness to the aftertaste.

Medium to full bodied for the style. I liked this, but it was a bad idea to attempt the 750ml on my own. The whole bottle was a bit much to drink in a sitting.

One finger of head. A cloudy banana colored body.
Smell of orange, honey, lemon and coriander. Nice and balanced.
Taste is mild overall. Some sweetness with a good lemon bitterness. Good, but mild.
Smooth texture, low carbonation and light body.
Tasty and interesting, but not really a daily (or monthly) drinker for me.

On tap at Max's during their DFH Baltimore Beer Week event.

The beer pours a pale gold color with decent head retention and minimal lacing. Don't get a whole lot on the nose, just some light clove and coriander. Flavors replicate the nose with some light sweetness and noticeable wheatiness. Mouthfeel is very light and the beer is fairly refreshing on the palate. Not surprisingly, alcohol is very well disguised, making for decent drinkability.

A nice enough beer, though I wish it had a bit more flavor. Really nothing to get excited about and probably something I would not bother to order again.

Poured from 750ml bottle into snifter glass. Pours a hazy straw gold color with an inch white head. Head retention and lacing are both pretty good. The brew smells like coriander, orange peel, wheat and some yeast. It tastes like oranges, lemon peel, coriander, wheat and a bit of peppery spice. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's crisp and is well carbonated. Drinkability is very good, it's nice, refreshing and really easy to drink.

A: Yellowish orange in color. Extremely hazy. Light effervescence streaming. A really nice pure white head like meringue.

S: Right off the bat i get a ton of spices. Coriander is definitely there. Lot's of lemon zest and ginger. Not sure if ginger is used in the brewing process but i definitely get it on the nose.

T: Lot's of orange and lemon. As in the nose the spice presence is undeniable.

M: Light amount of carbonation. The little that's there tingles on the tongue. Light bodied and refreshing. Real easy to drink.

Overall: I good flavorful Witbier. Nice flavors and mouthfeel and a good refreshment quality.

A: A cloudy light golden body with a nice size white fluffy head. Good amount of lacing.

S: A nice fragrant nose of coriander, yeast, lemon zest, spices, loads of wheat, and a hint of lemon grass and citrus hops.

T: Wheat is the dominate flavor on the palate. It's balanced with some spices, yeast, citrus hops, lemongrass, bready malts, and a slight earthiness. Finishes slightly dry, but the flavors are thin and not long lasting.

M: A very watery mouthfeel that I feel hurts the flavor almost. Light body and light carbonation.

O: A nice witbier and glad I tried it, but it was missing something. If the mouthfeel wasn't so lean it would definitely get more points from me in the tasts. Otherwise, very easy to drink.

Bottle generously shared by yagman.

A - huge pour left a thick head of white foaminess. Classic wit. Beautiful murky golden color. Thick strong lacing. Pretty true to what I expect of the style. Head hangs around. Visible steady bubbling.

S - really strong orange. Strong lemon as well almost lemondrop candy. Quite enjoyable. Not too sweet.

T - orange peel and corriander. Touch of the pilsner in the flavor which is a bit weird, or should I say off centered? Tang, flavored beer?

M - mouth grabs me first. Very thin and watery. Reminiscent of cheap beer when.i had my first taste as a wee one. However...Super easy to drink. Almost like a wit flavored vitamin water.

O - overall, I enjoyed this beer. Great for the summer wheather, lighter, easier to drink. Somewhat pilsner meets wit. Yagman called it a good crossover beer for a fan of macro wits and, that pretty much hits it on the head.

Pours golden yellow with a very thin head that recedes to the edges immediately then lingers for the duration of the drink. Smells of herbs and spice with light peppery and yeast notes. The taste is light with faint hints of orange, tea, sugar and wheat. The mouth feel is small, easy to drink and you could easily down the entire bottle without thinking twice since the beer is only 5% ABV. Definitely a summer brew but tasty none the less. The beer finishes with a crisp slightly bitter but clean flavor without a strong after taste. Definitely a recommendation for the spring and summer months.

A: a hazy pale gold. some of the haze is actually caused by the sea of carbonation bubbles. head is pretty dense, but i expected a little better retention.

S: spicy coriander. the hops and coriander actually work well together, playing off each other as fruity and bitter. definitely getting some lemon juice in there as well to add a bit of tartness.

T: lemon and pepper. a hint of sour behind the coriander. that hint hangs on through the finish, which is otherwise dry. the fruits are relatively complex and refreshing.

M: light body on medium carbonation. just wish the body was a little fuller/creamier and the carbonation was just a hair harder.

D: overall, refreshing, but almost too easy to drink. like i said above, if there was more of a bread character/richness i think it would be much more enjoyable.
