Squall pours a hazy golden amber with a head that fails to build much but which does leave oily lacing on the glass.

The aroma is more malty bready than hoppy but the hops are present with a mild citrus scent.

Big malts, bready and caramel in character, with a nice backiing of piney citrusy and somewhat earthy spicey hops. Definitely gives the impression of being malt forward. As with regular 90 minute the alcohol is fully hidden. The finish does manage to be slightly dry despite the big malt body and also finishes with a lingering bitterness on the palate. There really is a big hop presence but with an equally big maltiness that balances things. The flavors really begin to shine as it warms, with the hop and malt flavors really becoming much more balanced.

The mouthfeel perhaps suffers from a lack of adequate carbonation. It is full and medium but fails to be quite creamy in texture. It is very smooth however and as with the flavor improves as it warms in the glass.

While unique and quite tasty overall I'm not quite sure there is much to recommend Squall over regular DFH 90 Minute IPA. To be honest I'd need to drink a few 90 minutes again which I have not done in a while. I do recommend this as a very good Double IPA.
