Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into a Widmer's Hefeweizen pint glass.

A: Poured a very clean and clear looking copper-amber color with decent floating carbonation and a thin layer of creamy white foam. The lacing was okay.

S: Smells of buttery malts, some floral, resinous hop leaves, and a dose of that distinct apricot aroma, which is muted, blunt, and slightly buttery in its own right.

T: The taste is on track with the smell; bittersweet malt and hop balance noticeable right away, with a mild slick coating of hop son the tongue and in the finish. The X factor here is the apricot. It is noticeable, with a musty, fruity taste. However, the IPA cuts it and makes for a maddeningly addictive combo.

M: Mouthfeel is medium bodied and a tad oily.

D: If the ABV weren't all jacked up and this came in a 6-pack, this brew would dominate my fridge in the late spring and summer months. Very interesting, yet familiar where it needs to be. A nice session.

True, the comparisons to Magic Hat #9 would hold strong, but this brew has that patented Dogfish Head IPA flavor behind it. The lavish hop aroma and resinous flavor break the mold of other apricot fruit beers, making this one quite unique and one to seek out.
