Palo Santo Marron pours dark with a deep red tint. This beer smells of red wine, cedar, and a hint of cherry. Subsequent whiffs revealed a strongish alcohol presence as well. I looked away, smelled it, and thought I was drinking whiskey. It tastes wonderful: full-bodied and complex. So many flavors it was hard to pinpoint them, but not in an annoying way. Sugar, cedar, oak, red wine, vanilla, caramel, and of course, alcohol. Yum.

Overall: a very very nice beer. I liked it more than I anticipated; Dogfish really is one of the most consistent breweries in the US.

Bottle Served in tulip shaped glass

Appearance: very dark, almost black, with a thin brown head, and very little lacing when tilting the glass.

Smell: sweet, vanilla, caramel,

Taste: coffee chocolaty, sweet caramel vanilla,

Mouthfeel: syrupy thick with moderate carbonation.

Overall, I would characterize this beer as a stout. It feels like a stout and it tastes like a stout, except its much sweeter. It looks, smells, feels, and tastes like a stout. This is by far the best brown ale I've ever had. I will definitely be buying this again.
