Most recent poured from a bottle at fridge temps into a generic chalice, allowed to warm a bit over the course of consumption up to this point.

A - Pours orange/amber with an impressive 2 fingers of head, that recede to a thick ring and thin coating. Great lacing. Looks good.

S - Lots of delicious grapefruit, with honey and caramel lurking in the background. Smells good!

T - Follows the nose, and then some. Wonderful grapefruit hoppiness, balanced by significant malt presence. Caramel malts and possibly a bit of honey present, the maltiness provides excellent balance for this well-hopped ale. This is right up there with the best IPAs, miles ahead of most DIPAs which are pure bitter hop bombs. DFH went for more balance and complexity with this one, and it really comes through in the flavor. Delicious.

M - Good carb, a bit syrupy, but the syrupy feel delivers an excellent aftertaste, with lingering hop flavors that never turn bitter or sour. Fits perfectly with what they were going for.

O - This is a far better balanced IPA experience than the vast majority of DIPAs out there. Manages to deliver a ton of hop flavor, without being the cloyingly bitter hop bomb that most DIPAs seem to be. This is right at the top of the list, as it manages to be a complex, full-bodied ale while still having a ton of hop flavor. It's nice to have a DIPA that realizes there should be more to a beer than just bitterness. Very well done, this is a DIPA to drink over, and over, and over again.
