Notes:
Esquire Magazine calls our 90 Minute IPA "perhaps the best IPA in America." An imperial IPA best savored from a snifter, 90 Minute has a great malt backbone that stands up to the extreme hopping rate.
90 Minute IPA was the first beer we continuously hopped, allowing for a pungent -- but not crushing -- hop flavor.

First review so went with what is easily my favorite "easy to find" IPA.
A - Amber with Golden Hue, great clarity with nice thick head.
S - As expected, Big Hops but not all hops..some nice sweetness in there. A deep breath brings a pleasant tang to back of throat that makes my mouth water.
T - Nice and hoppy but also very creamy with citrus kick.
M - To me the feel is what makes this IPA better then so many of the other, really good IPA's that are out there right now. Like drinking whole milk at the perfect temp, this beer is to easy to drink to much of.
O - Great IPA, the very best you can expect to ever find sharing space with the masses in a grocery store.

Poured in draft into snifter.
A: Dark golden color with nice fluffy white head that leaves nice lacing behind.
S: Lots of hops and earthiness mixed with light sweet malts.
T: Pine and citrus flavors from the hops balanced nicely with the richness and sweetness from the malts. This is my kind of IPA. More going on here than just hop bomb.
M: Nice body and good carbonation. Refreshing to drink...
O: Fantasic beer. Makes me reconsider drinking IPA more often.

I don't consider myself a beer reviewer, but I figured I would put down my honest opinion as it seems to be the thing to do. Bear in mind this is my first day on BA.
To be honest I don't care for IPA's, most of the I don't go back for a second one,the only reason I am drinking them regularly these days is in the hope of "refining my palete." That being said I find myself enjoying this beer enough to the point of helping myself to a secnod one.
The main problem I have with most IPA's is they linger to much on my palate with a bitter aftertaste, 60 minute doesn't do that. It's bitter up front then tapers off leaving me wanting another sip.
All in all, I will keep drinking this beer and I think it will make a good stepping stone for me to keep drinking IPA's.

Appearance: Gorgeous amber; clear, effervescent; huge, frothy beige head, long lasting
Aroma: Malt; roasted grains; huge hop aroma with piney resin notes; smells delicious
Taste: Juicy, creamy malt on start that flows to hoppy, grapefruity citrus in the mid; finishes slightly dry; smooth, refreshing, and delicious
Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Pours clear and orange amber with a scant finger of loose foam that didn’t last at all. Plenty of active carbonation. Left a thin ring and a small cap. Nose is sweet orange on top of tall bread and caramel. A touch of floral and pine, a little honey and grass. Smells like sugar. The nose on this beer is perfectly sweet and juicy. Taste is piney hops with a bit of oil on a full malt base. Nutty, sweet and floral, somewhat tame. A little sticky and buttery. It’s syrupy in the almost dry finish and it’s pretty sweet. So sweet that you might not realize just how bitter the hops really are until they tickle the back palate with a little oil and bitter. Achieves a smooth balance between all it has to offer from both hops and malt. Polite yet engaging.Very approachable even with the higher abv and was quite charming.

In my opinion this beer is everything I look for.
It poured into a vintage beer mug a beautiful coppery color with a touch of haziness. Best poured cold out of the fridge just to control the super thick wonderful head that just keeps building.
This is a very hop forward beer with a distinct malt backbone. This is a beer made for sipping to savor every drop.
Sip at room temp to catch all of the subtleties in the hops and malts.
To me, I like to sip it in with an equal amount of air like a fine wine, roll it around on my tongue, catching the alcohol the hops and malts, then swallow.
It's a very sexy beer with a taste that lingers on your tongue making your taste buds scream for more. Two a night is my limit, the store can't get enough (three 4 paks at a time) when it comes to 90 minute I'm greedy.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a tulip glass.
A - Beautiful! Deep amber with brilliant clarity. Off-white head that lasts and lasts and lasts. Gorgeous lacing to the bottom of the glass.
S - Complex, with some conflicting aromas. Dank hops mixed with sweet orange peel doesn't quite work for me. Sweet honey-like malt aroma. Light alcohol.
T - Nicely balanced. Hop bitterness comes off as moderate, due to the substantial malt backbone. Light toasty malt with some caramel sweetness. Hops comes off as orange lollipop. Somewhat artificial candy-like. Low alcohol sweetness.
M - Medium body, but still has an impression of richness. Creamy, but the hops and alcohol dry the finish nicely.
O - This beer grew on me a bit as it warmed, but was a bit of a letdown from what I expected. The hop profile just didn't do it for me. I prefer the 60 minute!

A- Brilliant dark-gold color- much like foamy apple juice. Can barely see through it on the other end of the glass. Decent head with pretty thick lacing.
S- Very flowery. Extremely hoppy and quite pungent.
T- Floral tasting. Bitter flavors that turn into sweet in about 4 seconds, then leaves you with a pleasant bittersweet after taste. Probably the best IPA I've ever tried, and I don't usually drink them.
M- Bold mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Feels like it belongs!
O- My new favorite IPA! At 9% ABV, I can learn to deal with a 4-pack. :)

Dog Fish Head - Only heard good things about this brewery , had the Midas Touch and really enjoyed it
Appearance - A lovely sparkling gold with hints of ruddy brown. Very nice attractive beer
Smell - Hops, several variety that mixes well. Citrus, earthy, grass and some sweet
Taste - Big bitter hit that mellows to a sweet light malt and then. The after taste is satisfying and complete/complex
Mouthfeel - Great carbonation with right sized head when first poured
Overall - A really excellent brew, great for its style. Even a non hop head like me can enjoy. Now on to the 120.... If I can find it

The cost attracted me to give this a try at $10.99 for a 4-pk. Overall it's a great IPA and it the aftertaste is better than normal. The smell reminds me of fresh cut grass. The taste is a bit bitter at first but evens-out at the end - typical IPA. I think they did well with this! It better than most but you're also paying for it.

Presentation: Very nice label in the traditional DFH style. Label has DFH logo, ABV info, brewery info, and a small description of the beer, Neck label DFH logo and 90Min. Bottled on date (12-17-12).
Appearance: I allowed this to warm for 5min before pouring it from its 12oz bottle into a 16oz snifter. Pours out a semi hazy deep copper color with a 1 finger off white foam head of medium density. Head retention was 2min before fading to a frothy coating and thick ring. Excellent lacing throughout.
Smell/Aroma: Smells of fresh pine hops with a sweet fruity and malty essence.
Flavor/Taste: Taste of extreme pine hop bitterness throughout with hints of sweet malts and a slightly fruity tone. Slight hints of alcohol that was masked very well overall.
MouthFeel/Drinkability: Medium bodied with above average carbonation with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Extremely drinkable!.
Overall/Comments: An excellent double IPA that doesn't stray from the path. Extremely well put together with an awesome nose and exceptional flavor profile. Classified as an American Double/Imperial IPA at 9% ABV. Consumed 3/1/13.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into (my new) Dogfish Head snifter.
A: Pours a clear deep amber with 1 finger of frothy, billowy, white head, leaving spotty lacing plentifully along the glass. Head retention is good, aided by a steady stream of bubbles from etching at the base of the glass. Beautiful beer.
S: sweet citrus, like pineapple. Malt, hops, and alcohol follow. Smell makes me worry that the taste may be a little cloying, it's so sweet.
T: Wonderfully balanced sweetness from citrus character and malt balanced against hop bitterness. The taste does not follow the sweetness on the nose nearly as severely as I'd feared. The alcohol on this is wonderfully hidden under strong flavors, but is there all the same.
M: Full, syrupy with hops. A very heavy beer for an IPA, which I quite like. Carbonation is plentiful but not overdone.
O: I never cease to be impressed by this beer. A staple IPA, for sure -- plentifully available, delicious, and inexpensive. This has been a long-standing favorite of mine, and critically revisiting it on the occasion of purchasing this new snifter has reminded me just why I try to keep this on-hand.

Poured out of a 12 oz brown bottle into a large snifter glass. No visible freshness or bottling date.
A - Aggressive pour yields a finger of frothy tope head. Dissipates after a minute or so and leaves pretty spotty lacing. Film of microbubbles remains throughout. Body is dried apricot and muddy orange with pinkish highlights.
S - Piney, grapefruit, some medicinal qualities and even a faint hint of incense/nag champa
T - Bitterness and pine resin up front. A touch of juiciness and stronger citrus elements. Malty finish with lingering bittersweet.
M - Pleasant, resinous and sticky. Medium bodied with decent carbonation.
Overall, an excellent example of the style. Powerful, but complex and balanced.

Poured the 90 Minute Imperial IPA in to a Belgian Tulip.
A - Poured aggressively with a two and a half finger of off white head. The color is light amber that you can see right through.
S - Initially getting some light pine, a little grapefruit, with more roasted malt than I was expecting. Kind of curious about this one.
T - I'm kind of shocked, this beer has a ton of flavor, way more than the smell. Getting more malt than expected here as well. Lots of roasted goodness comes through. Yes, there is some hops and grapefruit, but not what I was expecting. Good, Yes . I'm just not sure about the flavor profile. Think malt first, then comes the hops and bitterness.
Yeah, I love it.
M - A thick beer here, medium leaning towards a heavy. I know this beer has some calories to it. Smooth of course, and finishes nicely.
O - Wow, Impressed in good way. Recommended! Cheers!

Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA has a medium, off-white head, an unclear, brilliant, amber-orange appearance, with thin, white lacing, and an enormous amount of bubbles all about. The aroma is very juicy up front (think of mango), with an underlying toasted barley malt note. Taste is of sweet, juicy hops, hop oil, some bitterness, and toasted barley malt. Mouthfeel is medium and a bit oily, and Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA finishes semi-dry, sweet, mildly alcohilic, and surprisingly easy drinking. Overall, this beer was not as bitter, rich, extreme, and hoppy as the hype led me to believe. That aside, I still think it is a wonderful beer to be able to sample. Overall, I rate this as outstanding.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a very nice overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with great flavors and aromas.

how have I never reviewed the 90? this was an old standby for a number of years when I was back east, but I guess the Colorado market has got me distracted. picked up my first 4 pack in ages, and I just love it. almost forgot how good it is. pours a perfectly clear radiant copper color, lighter than that really, but not red enough to be amber, like medium maple syrup. the head is a few inches at first, but relaxes to just a quarter inch of white lace, although its easily fired back up with a shake of the glass. nose is sweeter resinous hops, bits of pine, and sticky dankness like fine bud. American light toasted malt as well, with a touch of alcohol for good measure. flavor is hop heavy, but again the sweeter rather than the bitter. I get some malt sweetness too, but most of it comes from the hops, oily as hell. just enough grain to balance it out. long finish, alcohol is barely present. I could stand a little more carbonation on this, but its not flat, its just personal preference for me. feels a touch heavy in that way, but its more so when its warmer. ice cold its epic, just doesn't drink too fast. fuller bodied, I think a 4 pack is the exactly correct dose on this. one of the pioneering big india pales, still up to snuff.

S: a nosefull of hops followed by pine and fruit with sweet undertones.
T: hops, pine, bitter, malt undertones, smooth and satisfying. No hint of the 9% abv
M: perfectly carbonated, smooth.
O: Good IPA but given it's reviews I guess I am left wondering if I'm missing something as I didn't think it was that special. Maybe it's just not suited to my particular tastes. Still a very enjoyable IPA and would pick it over most IPA's.

Poured from bottle into snifter.
A: Pours a nice dark bronze and honey color with a 2.5 finger white, rocky head. Great retention. Minimal lace. Love the dark but clear color.
S: Earthy, dirt, dusty, musky, gravel and barley are prominent. Minor hint of lemon and minimal hops. Very malty scent. What you would expect of an Imperial IPA but nothing to write home about.
T: Sweet and earthy malts hit you hard. Barley and grass aftertaste lingers. Not terribly hoppy and tastes like a true Belgian IPA. Very strong malt flavors remind you that this is truly an Imperial IPA.
M: Full bodied and sits well on the palate. You would never guess this has 9% abv. Perfectly carbonated and goes down smoothly. A little sticky and almost creamy. Very nice.
O: I was stoked to find both this and the 120 minute IPA at a local bottle shop based on the reviews I have read, and the 90 minute IPA did not disappoint. The attractive dark color and massive head draw you in and the earthy, malty scent is fitting. Very malty taste that offers sweet and earthy flavors with average hoppyness. The nice full body and creamy texture is a great finish. This one lived up to its reputation and I would recommend it to any IPA fan. Excellent brew.

This is is Amazing Beer! I am not a big fan of this style but one thing sold me is the after taste does not taste like Pine Sol cleaner. Most of ipa have a pine sol lingering in your mouth after taste which I hate. It is not cheap but I treat myself to a four pack once in a while.
.Appearance: A great looking cloudy orange with amber color with a frothy head.
Smells: caramel, vanilla , pine and little clove.
Taste: Some bitterness on the tongue and some malt takes over. Finishes slightly bitter but not overe powering. Some hint of citrus and chocolate kind of taste in there as well. Real well balanced but
Mouthfeel- Overall great mouthfeel.
Overall: I am glad I tried this beer a year ago. Awesome IPA with great taste , balance, smell and no harsh pine sol after taste.

A: Copper filtered, low carbonation, two finger beige head is puffy and fades slowly.
S: Floral hops, heated spice, orange candy, pomelo, pineapple. Sweet caramel.
T: Tropical fruit candy, well balanced, not blasting my taste buds off with atomic energy as some ipas would. Alcohol present but well hidden. Its smooth. Some bitter aftertaste like a grapefruit. Pine for sure. Extreme balance as there is a low level of sweetness. Sweet, bitter, fruity, spicy, a tropical medly in balance. Honestly, I burp pine.
M: Heavy body, low carbonation. Smooth and syrupy but does not cling to the mouth.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a footed tulip.
A: Dark amber hue. Pours about a 1 finger, bubbly, white head. Settles quickly leaving a thick ring around the rim, and a smattering of bubbles on the surface. Very spotty lacing mostly retreats back into the body of the brew.
S: Nutty and woody roasted malt base. Pine resin and a little clove.
T: Slightly sweet and piney. Woody roasted malt. Bitter pecan shell and orange rind. No components overpowering, very well-balanced.
M: Full, hearty, and syrupy. Slightly bitter aftertaste, but surprisingly not too much.
D: Sip and enjoy. The bitter character and heft will dictate it.
Atmosphere is really nice. Dark hue, slight bubbly white head, and a touch of lacing. Nose is a woody, and roasty with plenty of pine and a little spice. Flavor is a well-balanced combination of pine, bitter pecan, a little citrus on a woody roasted malt base. Full and hearty. Overall, this is a great quaff.

Pours a golden/amber color with a two finger white head. Leaves a ton of lacing. A lot of malt coming through on the nose with a bit of sweetness. Taste is really malty with a lot of citrus and sweetness. For a 90 IBU beer, this comes off not very bitter at all. The bitterness is there but the sweetness covers it up nicely. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied. Pretty thick for an IPA. Carbonation is just above average. Overall, I love this IIPA. Dogfish Head have done it again. They're known for their strange beers and this is no exception. Wow. I need to find 120 minute IPA now.
