Bottled on 12/29/05...almost an exact month in the bottle.

Comes off in appearance and bouquet as an American strong ale or barleywine (you can argue the difference).

A fairly syrupy amber pour with little head and mild carbonation, sweet smells of dates, figs, white raisins, cherry, and caramel malts. Faintly reminiscent on the nose of Stone's Double Bastard.

You get these flavors up front (though not as sweet as what the nose preps you for) and then a mild dose of spicy hops, but the finish falls flat and hardly anything lingers. It dries out very evenly at the end... almost parching.

Nice, thick and chewy mouthfeel, with plenty of both graininess and carbonation.

I just now looked at the ABV, and though i do get some alcohol warming, the 10% is nowhere near as apparent as it could be. Pretty easy to drink really, and tasty even though for the style i'd like a little more oomph in the finish.

If i were looking to session a barleywine, this would be the one i'd choose.
