12oz. bottle poured into my Unibroue tulip glass. 12/11/08 bottled date printed on the neck.
(A)- Pours a bronze orange color clear of any sediment. A good 2-finger head appeared but dissipated after a few minutes time.
(S)- Nice aroma of raw honey, sweet malts, and a really refreshing flower-ish bouquet. A spice component adds another nice addition to it, which is almost cinnamon-like.
(T)- Initially, you can really experience the muscat grapes in this, but once you swallow, the honey, saffron, and barley really becomes apparent. Plenty of carbonation. The amount of barley used to make this beer must have been alot because it almost completely overtakes the midpalate of this brew just before you swallow.
(M)- Once your palate gets accustomed to the beer, the honey sweetness really makes an interesting play with the robust barley and grapes creating a very similar profile to mead or a light barleywine or even a maibock perhaps. Smooth on the finish yet hearty in the middle.
(D)- This is definitely a multi-dimensional beer. It is complex and should be sipped to enjoy all that it has to offer. At 9%abv, I have no idea where all of that is but its in there somewhere! I really couldnt have more than one at a time though because of its richness, but its enjoyable nontheless.
