Appearance: A murky gold with a slight amber hue. Half a finger of thin white head on top that dissipates into a white ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell: A very salty malt character, not much sweetness to balance out the salty bitterness.

Taste: Thankfully, in the flavor there is some more sweetness to balance out the salty bitterness, although the sourness adds a new dimension. Quite an awkward taste, not much balance, just a bunch of flavors thrown out there with no real bridges between them. There is also a spice character that is most likely attributed to the saffron, but I do not have any prior knowledge as to what saffron tastes like.

Mouthfeel: A nice body, a good bready feel and a tingling carbonation. It does compliment the fruit flavor nicely but not the saltiness by the least bit.

Overall: A very interesting and a very unique ale, but my marveling over its greatness stops there. I was not impressed by it, there were some very overwhelming and off-putting characters to this beer. Perhaps with time this kind of beer will become more appealing to my taste, but for now I am having a hard time getting into it enough to return for any other reason than the concept.
