Poured into a Dogfish Head signature glass on 4/9/12

Bottled in 2012D

Honey amber color with a tobacco burst sheen. The beer boasts a puffy, three finger head that is very slow to dwindle. Dwindle doesn't describe it, actually. One finger retention holds quite a while. Intermittent clumps of thick lace remain up top and dense swaths hold further down.

Un-IPA-like is the only way to describe the aroma. Toasted bread, caramel, de-scented cocoa powder (what the hell?), tree bark and dirty, earth hops. This smells just on the aggravating side of sweet.

Flavor-wise, 75 Minute is just like the nose, if perhaps more earthy and, subsequently, dirty. Toasted sugars, bread and dulled hops. I'm not picking out any of the maple syrup referenced on the bottle. This is just flat-out disappointing for an IPA.

The feel is fluffy and somewhere above the medium threshold. Carbonation is moderate and is appropriate. The finish is a little damp and dirty.

Overall impression - It's never a good thing when the product description of an IPA refers to "age-ability."

This beer was chilled and served in a snifter.

A- A thick creamy white colored head rides a clear peach colored body. Thick lacing marks this beers passage from my glass.

S- Pine cone and resin lead the aroma. The citrus hop and tropical fruit hop aromas are far more muted than what I recall either beer being.

T- Pine resinous hops lead the flavor and last throughout the flavor. Again as in the aroma the citrus flavors are very muted. Not bad but frankly I want either 60 or 90 Minute IPA.

M- This beer is full bodied and very creamy.

O- Not a bad beer but the combination of 60 and 90 Minute IPA pale in comparison to either beer.

Pours a hazy, dark golden orange color with yellowish-orange hues and a massive 2.5/3 finger, frothy white head that very slowly settles into a lasting cap.  Chunks of soapy lacing left behind.

Sweet yet earthy aroma with some grassy pine and sweet malt notes.  The sweetness of the syrup and malts take away from the hops.  Hint of caramel, toffee, nut and sweet maple.  Too malt forward for my preference.

Medium bodied with some tight carbonation and subtle signs of infection. Balance of dry and sweet notes.  Dry bitterness with some earthy/soily notes that get overpowered by malt profile and maple.  Hints of toffee, caramel hazelnut and syrup. Too malty and sweet with little to no interesting hop flavor.

Poured into a tulip. This one pours an amber honey color with four fingers of frothy white head. More head than beer in my glass, and this head seems to have staying power.

The first thing that comes to mind in the aroma is sharp cheddar cheese (I realize this may sound insane). Behind that a lingering aroma of mild citrus hops comes through with a slightly sweet edge. Sweet malts are the first thing I notice on the pallet with a kiss of bitter hops to round it out. Maple flavors with a little bit of orange pull this together.

The body is a bit on the heavier side and slightly sticky with soft carbonation.

Overall I'm a little disappointed. I'll think I'll stick with 60 minute as my Dogfish drink of choice.

A: Poured a overcarbonated deep golden color with a massive white head which fades leaving a small unimpressive whispy cap

S: Faint. Mainly grassiness.

T: Let down. Grassy, grainey, no maple on this day, some light sweetness, dash of bitterness. I'm really not going to continue on this portion.

M: It felt thin, overcarbonated and no body

O: Really let down on this one.

1 pint 9.4 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap acquired tonight for $9.99 and served into a New Belgium goblet in me gaff in low altitude Los Feliz, California. 7.5% ABV confirmed. Expectations are above average given the hype, but this brewery is often overrated.

Served refrigerator cold. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours an appealing four finger beige colour head of nice cream and thickness, and great retention (five minutes at least) for the ABV. Good lacing. Fluffy smooth foam - just what I like to see. Colour is a dull dark copper. Not at all lively. Semitransparent. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.

Sm: Dry floral hops. Some citrus - slight grapefruit. Bittering hops. Little hop bite. Clean pale malts. A touch soapy. Some sweet malty notes. Bubblegum. Maybe even a hint of pineapple. An average strength aroma. There's nothing unique or special about it. No yeast or alcohol is detectable. I don't get oil, pine, or orange/lemon citrus at all.

T: Soap and bubblegum up front (too long in primary?). Some nice biscuity and amber malts are present in the foundation - a pleasant surprise. A touch of caramelization as well. Some luscious berry. It's actually a bit tame on the hops, with floral character dominating. I get a hint of maple syrup, but only when I really search for it. More balanced than expected. A hint of soap and bubblegum on the climax. Tingly malty sweetness carries the third act. It's not horribly complex or subtle. I don't really see what all the fuss is about. As it warms, I pick up on some pleasant spice - maybe nutmeg. A bizarre beer in the style. Sort of messy.

Mf: Smooth, wet, nicely creamy. Good thickness and carbonation. Suits the flavours in a general sense. Good presence on the palate. Doesn't feel tailored specifically to the flavours. Not at all oily like some IPAs. Soft.

Dr: Drinkable but unremarkable. Quite overpriced. There's little here to bring me back. They would do well to add more maple syrup and caramel. The soapy bubblegum notes have got to go. I don't understand the hype for this one. Another letdown from Dogfish Head. Why do I keep coming back?

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a large tulip glass. The smell was of molasses and syrup with strong piney-hop influence. I would describe the color that of clover honey. The taste was moderate pine hops up front with a mild malt backbone and a slight lingering bitter finish. Mouthfeel was perhaps the best characteristic of the beer, a light/medium, very pleasant, making it easy to finish the bottle unassisted. Overall though, I found this beer to be between average and good.

Pours out with more than average head, which stays for quite a while. Clings to sides of glass. Very hazy caramel color throughout. Reminds me of autumn.

Smell is very malty. Not a lot of hop being detected. Sweet, thick malt is the overpowering sensation.

Taste is sweet and syrupy (as expected, with maple syrup being an ingredient). Lots of malt and a very subdued taste overall.

Mouthfeel is very thick and syrupy. Not a very clean finish overall. Lingers in the mouth long after sip is finished.

1 pt 9.4 fl oz brown glass bottle (bottled on 1/25/13) served in a pint glass, reviewed live:

A - Pours a tall, thick three finger cream colored head. Color is a hazy golden orange. Retention is damn good and it leaves tight lacing as it recedes.

S - Pleasant floral and piney hops dominate the nose but it's far from resinous. A bit perfumy, even. The hops seem muted though. Caramel undertones. I'd expected sweeter given the addition of the maple. Mild strength.

T - Musty pine hops and faint lemon zest. The maple's there, and it upsets the balance. Bitter finish. Stale base malts and mishandled caramel. Subdued earthy yeast. The alcohol is surprisingly noticeable at 7.5%. Mundane.

M - Crisp. A bit thick and oily.

D - It's far from a bad beer, but I'd honestly expected a lot more from this one. Having been disappointed by the other "minute" IPA's, I guess I should have known.

poured a large bottle into 2 pint glasses.

explosive off white head over a clear copper colored liquid

smell is faint hops, not much else.

taste was a nice balance of hops and malt. I didn't get any maple flavor from this though.

mouthfeel was crisp and smooth. very nicely balanced and super easy to drink

overall, a good beer, but I didn't rate it very high because of lack of maple flavor even though it is clearly marked on the label.

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of pine and light citrus hoppy notes with some sweet caramel malt. Taste is a mix between some medium hoppy notes with some citrus and resin notes backed by a solid and a bit too sweet caramelized malt backbone. Body is about average with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad but definitely a bit too sweet which makes me wonder if maple syrup is really bringing anything worthwhile to the mix.

750ml bottle into snifter. A warm thank you to SneezyAchew for sending me this one.

A: Pours a slightly hazy light pumpkin color with a huge, billowing, light tan head that took forever to faded into a huge, rocky and greasy film leaving chunky lace down the glass.
S: I pick up the maple more than anything actually. I get some whiffs of sweet malts and some citrus hops as well. Not super fragrant.
T: Follows the nose with notes of citrus and molasses. I get some pine as well. Malty and syrupy all around. Hops are lightly bitter and resiny in the finish.
M: Fullish body, medium full carbonation, greasy mouthfeel. Refreshing enough, but a bit heavy for an IPA.
O: A bit disappointing but definitely drinkable. Very malty like most DFH beers. I like the molasses but the hops could have been more prominent. Thanks again, Michael.

750 ml bottle, no bottled-on date but the bottle shop got it on Wednesday 10/23, poured into a snifter glass

A: Deep Golden color. Can't see through it. Nice 2.5 finger head with great retention. Nice lacing on the glass. Lot of carbonation.

S: Is ok, Getting some sweet tropical fruit. Some malty character. Honestly little wet cardboard, not the best smelling beer out there.

T: Malty with low bitterness. Refreshing, with a bready feel.

M: Nice thick full bodied with tons of carbonation. Slight creamy feel.

O: I still prefer the 60 min, but its solid. Probably wouldn't buy again, but glad I tried it.

On tap at the Dogfish Head Alehouse in MD.

Deep golden color with a weird head that's solid but weak. Not much lacing on the glass which I expect from an IPA.

Hops, floral, herbal notes. Very powerful but bland.

Nice sweetness on the tongue. Hops and malts don't really mix at all, and the hops don't really mix well as there are like five different profiles competing for top dog. Really weird mouth feel. Nice deep finish.

This is probably the cheapest but most powerful brew that the Alehouse has. A whole pint for 5 bucks of two of the best IPA's mixed. Very drinkable.

Reviewing the 75 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. DFH bills this as a blend of the 60 Minute and 90 Minute IPA's with maple syrup added. The artwork is awesome, and, courtesy of n00b BIF, I have a 75 Minute IPA shirt that I got to enjoy this beer while wearing.
Score: 81

Bottle is dated "2012B" (2012 vintage). Served in a stemmed Hill Farmstead snifter and enjoyed on 04/04/12.

Appearance: Pours four fingers of titanic, white soapy head. Noticeable effervescence on the body, which is a dull orange/yellow color and translucent (the color is washed out a bit by the flash from the iPhone -- sorry). Good lacing, below average retention. 3.5/5

Smell: Caramel and toffee upfront. Lemon, musty orange, wood, stale apricot, grass, bitter grains and flat hops. There's nothing very inviting going on here. Where is the maple? 3/5

Taste: Grains, grass and a little brown sugar. None of the added maple is in the flavor either. Spicy hops, stale citrus and a touch of peppercorn. Lots of malt here -- primarily caramel and toffee flavored ones mixed with the bitter grain. I wish I did quarter step reviews, because this beer is getting a real soft 3.5 out of 5. 3.5/5

Mouthfeel: Medium-light bodied, medium high carbonation. Honestly, a bit over-carbonated for what it is. Oily mouthfeel. Bitter finish. A bit too acidic. 3.5/5

Overall: A decent and drinkable beer, but it falls far short of the hype. Stick to the 90 Minute.

Recommendation: Not worth running around town and dropping $10+ a bottle.

Pairings: Dogfish Head recommends avocado and hamburgers, comparing this beer to a Chardonnay. That seems fair.

Cost: $9.99 for a 750 ml bottle.

Served from a cask at the brewpub.

Pours a cloudy amberish gold with a thick white cap that has good retention and good lacing down the glass. Looks great.

S/T/M - I find aspects of the 90 Min. dominating the 60 Min. in this beer, which I don't particularly enjoy. The hop presence is a bit more apparent in the 75 Min than the 90, which is good, but in the end, the super sweet, syrupy, dried fruity malt content overwhelms the palate as it warms. Medium to full body in mouthfeel, but is a bit syrupy and cloyingly sweet as the drink progresses.

O - I enjoyed this more than the 90 Min., but it still ends up being cloyingly sweet, with a huge malt presence that the hops cannot balance.

Had this on 2011-04-02 at Bull's Head Public House's 3rd Cask Beer Festival.

A - Clear, gold with hints of orange. Very short head and no lacing.

S - Very light fruit - like a blood orange. Not much aroma.

T - Sweet, fruity citrus, spice and a hint of Mukhwas (the after-dinner seeds @ an Indian restaurant, typically fennel seeds, anise seeds, coconut, and sesame seeds). Moderate bitterness kicks in after a bit but the brew has more lingering malt sweetness than I care for.

M - Light body with little carbonation. Moderately smooth.

O - Not a winner for me on-cask. Too sweet and not enough carbonation.

S: A fresh cut dry grass is fist with a bit of yeast and dry dirt.

T: Tast is a milder version of the smell with the addition of sweetness. Defuntly taste the dry hopping done to this beer.

M: Medium body with a slight btterness.

O: A very unique beer that offers the drinker smothing that is different. I thought this beer would be sligtly sweeter because of the additon of the maple syrup. but the additon of the dry hoppiness is over powering.

Thanks to Brandon for sharing this.

Pours a beige head. Color is a golden orange.

Aroma: Very sweet. The maple syrup shows well. Kind of bready with caramel flavors. Some floral and grassy hops.

Taste: Again, pretty malty, but an orange citrus shows. Floral and pine. Maple syrup, caramel, and bready malts. Unique.

Mouthfeel: Bitter, but syrupy. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends with a hop-resin stickiness.

Overall, a very unique ipa. I like the maple syrup, but it was a bit too malty for me. Still glad I got to try this one.

Pours out a really clear yellow amber with three fingers of very creamy white suds. Lacing around the glass.
Smell is malty sugar and booze along with some lemon peel.
Taste is strictly grapefruit rind and sugar malts. Otherwise this is very bland. Mabey it has been in the bottle too long. I do reserve the right to try this again.
Mouthfeel is a little sticky and the flavors leave very quickly leaving a lemon pledge sort of film on the toungue.
Overall this is a pretty good beer but very dissapointing knowing how 60 min and 90 min taste.

750 mL bottle purchased from Rick's.

Pours a glowing golden amber with low carbonation and ample suspended sediment. Airy, white head with nice retention and abundant dots of lace. Mild, weak aroma of trace maple and light pine; mildly soapy and and boozy. Flavor is less horrible than the aroma with hops taking a more dominant role and maple only adding a mild sweetness to the finish and slick texture to the body. Dry throughout the body, with pine hops and light bready malt body hiding behind the bitterness. More of an amped up 60 Min than a watered down 90 Min. Maple is a failure on the aroma, but subtlety in the flavor adds an unexpected pleasant balance and depth to the flavor. Didn't pick up the notes of dog shit that Thorpe found in this beer (and a few others tonight) but he just must have been getting too familiar with Bruce's functions tonight.

Bottle poured into a snifter; had this back in February, just found the notes

The body pours a hazy orange in color with a foamy, tight ecru colored cap. Spider web lacing and good retention. Thick chunks of lace showing the sip marks.

The aroma is rather malty. Earthy toffee, caramel, and bready, with some citrus over top. The maple syrup is hardly noticeable. I had higher expectations for the nose.

The flavor profile follows the nose. Bready malt with toffee and caramel and some citrus tones (orange rind) over top. Maple syrup comes through faintly in the finish, adding a little sweetness to an earthy, dry finish.

Medium body, chewy malt profile. The finish is dry and earthy with some sweetness from the caramel/toffee/maple syrup.

Overall, I was underwhelmed. I would much rather have a 60 or a 90 than this. The maple syrup addition was a non-factor to me.

Yellow and orange pour, every time I go to throw some into the imperial pint glass, it foams up way too high. At least its carbonated, better to have too much than too little. Aroma, pretty grassy, cascades, not picking up much in the way of maple on this.

Taste, wow, yeah, the grassiest ipa I think I've ever had. Good flavor, but I dunno if its $9 a bottle type of flavor. Amazingly normal for a dfh brew, but really lacking on maple flavor, its really dominated by a slightly above average amount of cascade hops.

Mouthfeel is slightly sweet, but it seems to be more from the malt additions moreso than any adjunct. An enjoyable enough beer, but not really at the price point. Make it a 6 pack for this price, and its a beer I would drink again.
