Notes:
Chicory was one of the first beers we started brewing at our pub back when it opened in 1995. It's a dark beer made with a bunch of roasted chicory, organic Mexican coffee, St. John's Wort and licorice root. We use whole-leaf Cascade and Fuggle hops, as well as pale, roasted and oatmeal grains.

Pour is pitch black with a burnt brown tinting. Minimal mud colored head, fading rapidly.
Nose is massive with smokey hickory, malts, and a soft, sweet whiskey booziness.
Taste, following the nose, is really disappointing. Little bit of smoke up front with a fairly mild malt. Some scant coffee notes, finishing with a soggy bourbon flavor.
Feel is medium bodied. Just to thin to support the beer.
Used to love this stout. Now that I've had better, and seen more of what else is out there, returning to it is disappointing. It's just too thin and lacking the robust flavor that other stouts do so well. It is smooth and drinkable, but compared to what else is available, meh.
