Notes:
This beer is brewed with our proprietary yeast – the same yeast we’ve used since first brewing Harpoon Ale – and some interesting hop varieties. The combination of Pale, Rye, Caramel 60, Flaked Rye, and Vienna yield a complex malt body that stands up to the spiciness of the rye and the pronounced hop flavor. The rye also adds a reddish hue to the beer. The kettle additions of Centennial, Apollo, and Chinook, and the dry hop addition of Falconer’s Flight add a multidimensional hop character.

I picked a bottle of this up at Mt Rose quick six, enjoyed chilled in a willybecker.
The color is a golden glowing orange shade with hazed appearance and thick collar of about 2 fingers of beige which leaves a nice coating of lace on the glass. The smell is very fragrant with hop fruitiness which provides a slight piney odor with mild citrus and grapefruit elements but a gentle malt odor provides some sweetness in the nose. The feel is good, nice bitter elements combined with gentle toast and malt sweetness with a light spiciness and moderatly high carbonation level with some oiliness from the hops.
I really like how this takes a little bit of influence from Harpoon ipa and adds a new dimension, the rye adds to the spice flavor of the hops which are bitter in flavor and a little citrus tasting at times too. I like the gentle orange rind element with hints of pine and the malt adds a nice caramel tinge in the back end. Overall I was pleased with this ipa, pretty solid for the style and enjoyable with a nice rye presence.

A- Slightly hazy copper in color with a big egg shell head that fades slowly leaving impressive lace.
S- Big nose of American hops, lots of pine and fruit, with some spicy and sweet breadiness.
T- Smooth and light up front, with a strange pit fruit character that is quickly whisked away by a refreshingly bitter and fairly smooth bitterness.
M- Thin and dry with medium low carbonation, this one goes down pretty easily.
O- An enjoyable IPA thought I don't get a huge amount of rye, just enough to poke around the hops. This beer could also use a little more hop flavor up front rather than just the finishing bitterness.
