The beer pours a deep amber color with a thick frothy off-white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a rich, malty scent that boasts of burnt toffee and caramel. It's mildly bitter with touch of alcohol warmth. The taste is good as well. It has a smooth, well balanced flavor that's bitter up front with an excellent malt flavor following. It's rich and flavorful with a delicate caramel/toffee feel and a moderate alcohol warmth. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a tasty brew that's true to style and easy drinking; another winner from the Leviathan series.

2011 dated, poured into modified tulip.

A - Deep copper, slow carbonation (maybe to cold) great lacing.

S - Toffee, cinamon, fig, hint of vanilla. warm bread also.

T - Toast, vanilla, some light spice. This has mellowed some, muted alcohol , hints of dried fruit.

M - Soft and luscious, long finish with an even coating.

O - What a nicely done offering from Harpoon. I sincerely hope they continue making this.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a thin off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains brown sugar, caramelized malts, fruit and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste starts with flavors of fruit, caramel and brown sugar. Then a strong but not over-powering hops presence comes in followed by a hearty malt character to create a good balance. There’s a mild alcohol sting. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, strong kick, good representation of style, although there are better alternatives in the style, this is a solid stronger beer to drink for a while.
