The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Ginger Wheat Ale is an ode to brewer Scott Shirley's favorite spice, ginger. The earthy, warming flavor of this golden-hued ale is derived from fresh ginger. Honey from a local New Hampshire farm yields a slight sweetness to balance the ginger spiciness. A hint of lemon adds acidity and rounds out the ginger flavor. Warm up your chilly winter nights with this ginger spiced beer.

It's been awhile since I've any of Harpoon's inventory. Who can pass up the 100 Barrel Series when it comes out?
I'm thinking that this is running close to a light saison. Alot of head at first but goes away quickly.
Definitly a summer beer taste but limited to the amount of intake.
I like the way that ginger offst the wheaty texture. Not a big wheat beer fan but this one will do.
This one puts a new twist for Ginger Ale, good try.

This pours hazy and golden with about a finger’s worth of foam and then falls off to some nice lace. It smells like ginger. I love it already. Nose is light malt and light citrus wheat and ginger. As it warms some banana and lemon. It’s pretty subtle. The taste is awesome with a full wheat base against the spicy ginger and the gentle hops. Even had a bit of toasted bread in the finish. It’s creative and not the usual fare. It’s slightly sweet and mouthfeel is soft and pleasant with a bit of citrus to wash it down. No alcohol on the palate it finishes simple and pale. Wheat is a refreshing beer and with the ginger it’s both warming and crisp. Sensational and very original. I paired this with striped bass.

Half finger of head with excellent retention and nice lacing on a bright golden body. Aroma of wheat, lemongrass, ginger, corriander and sweet lemon custard. Flavors of ginger, wheat, herbal hops, sweet and slightly tart lemon, tangerine in the finish. Fairly full in body being a little creamy with moderate carbonation. This one was really flavorful and complex for what I was expecting. One of te better of this series that I have had.

Had this one hanging around. was a surprise! the beer pours pretty clear. light color. typical for a wheat beer. ginger hits the nose well. yum. really appealing. mouthfeel is thin, but that is to be expected. I was worried that the light body of a wheat would not hold up against the strong flavors of ginger. but they did a good job here.

Must have been an old bottle of this picked up for 5 bucks at the house of 1,000 beers.
A - Pours a light golden hue and seems to hold up well considering the inch of foamy white head and excellent lacing.
S - To me it smells like a Kolsch with a low hop profile, mild grains, ginger (strong but balanced), and a twist of lemon.
T - It works surprisingly with mostly fresh ginger (like ginger ale pop), a fairly skunky grain profile and a sort of sour lemon finish. Not bad yet not loving it either,
M - Light to medium quite easy to drink.
Overall not sure what happened but as I type the second pour seems to have more tart lemon that bitters the tongue like hops? If this is what pure ginger taste like then call this "ginger ale"
