A: On the light side, more or less like a pale orange color. Lazy bubbles near the bottom of my pint glass with little to no head, due to the shoddy pour. Regardless, this brew leaves some decent lacing along the sides of the glass.

S: Smell is of very faint pine and floral hops. Harpoon claims to be fairly aggressive with the hop content, and typically I agree, but this was no spectacular feat.

T: Taste is very serviceable, and invites the imbiber to continue sipping or quaffing, depending on the activity at the bar. I was playing Big Buck Hunter 2006, so I was subject to both. It's a bit of a delicate bite with a nice hop finish, contrary to the aroma of this particular pour.

M: Mouthfeel was a bit of a let down at this pub. Could have been the keg, or the pout, but made me feel this Harpoon IPA was a bit too watery. Normally, it leaves a nice hop bite on the tongue, but this was a tad weak.

D: Not going to argue here; this brew goes down nice and easy. BMC drinkers - fork over the extra $.50-$1 to pick up this above average ABV IPA. It's very nice, not quite as good as Sierra Nevada or Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPAs, but a very reliable brew.

I'm a fairweather Harpoon fan, as I tend to get their IPA in a pinch and tend to favor the Winter Warmer only, but this IPA will never let you down, not will it wow you in the taste department.

Glass: Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.

Appearance: Perfectly clear pale yellow to pale orange. A finger of soapy bright white head is produced from an aggressive pour. Lacing sticks around beautifully and helps the rating here.

Smell: A bit of piney and citrus character, but overall relatively mild in smell. Nothing offensive, but nothing too exciting.

Taste: A bit of bitterness, with a relatively strong floral character. A bit of a "soapy" character in there as well. Malt is pretty balanced.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with high carbonation. A slight oily texture.

Overall: This one is not bad at all, but certainly nothing special. It is pretty balanced, if that is what you like, but the floral character is not for me. Wouldn't buy this one again, but I wouldn't turn it down, either!
