From a 375 mL bottle, thanks again Jon,

A: Pours a dark somewhat murky amber with a soft white head, no lace.

S: Sweet malt, raisins, dates.

T: Fermented candi sugar with a fair amount of orange. Nice complexity, some brown sugar. Lots of dark fruit.

M: Medium-bodied, soft carbonation, good feel for sure for a New World dubbel.

O: Eisenbahn makes consistently good beer, and this is no exception. A quality effort.

A controversal beer. The "Concourso Mestre Cervejerio" contest which Eisenbahn holds rewards a contest winner each year for his/her homebrew recipe. São Sebá was the winnner of 2010, but should hold up one year later. The first two recipes (A Dama do Lago and Joinville Porter) were already exepensive at R$22 for a 375 ml corked and caged bottle, but São Sebá was going over R$30 at stores, causing outrage among Brazilian beer enthusiasts. I received this in an exchange with my friend Sergio, obrigado pela oportunidade! Finally shared at Beachwood BBQ, on to the beer:

A darker orange colored beer with only a little head and a few spots of lace. There's a lot of red grape in the aroma, also some fruity yeast characteristics I can't put a finger on. The taste is sweet and dominant of the red grape. Some pear as well. There's a touch of toffee underneath the fruit. A little singular in taste, but it is pretty tasty. It feautres a low carbonation and alcohol being hidden extremely well.

With one year of age, São Sebá is a good treat. I like what Eisenbahn is doing for Brazilian homebrewers, but I don't like how expensive they must retail these bottles at.
