Exported only to USA. Eisenbahn's South American Pale Ale is well-balanced, with sweet wholesome malt, and earthy complexity, and a uniquely spicy aroma that results from a special, and secret, blend of Old and New World hops.

Appearance: Dense liquid with good carbonation. Deep gold color with minimal head.

Smell: Sweet malt with a touch of hops. Yeast evident.

Taste: Clean, with apple and pear flavors. Crisp malt flavors below a minor hop profile.

Mouthfeel: Light-medium body. The carbonation adds fullness to the brew.

Drinkablity: Good brew. Well crafted and delicious.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a tulip. Label says this is batch #20.

Appearance: golden, medium-brown hue with a fair amount of suspended solids and practically no head. Nice color, if not exactly "pale", but otherwise not great.

Smell: mild aroma of malt, grain and noble hops. Minimal effervescence limits the volume of smell to be obtained. Not terrible but not great either.

Taste: sweetish malt flavor with plenty of graininess. There's a light tanginess at the end which I might associate with a Belgian pale. Bitterness is low, but balanced. I find myself liking it more than I anticipated, though it is a bit on the grainy side.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent creaminess despite a lack of apparent effervescence. Not too bad.

Overall: this beer doesn't appeal to me strongly. The flavor isn't bad, but as a whole package it's underwhelming.

Served in a tumbler.

The label on this thing is stamped Batch 20. Whatever that means. It pours a clear topaz topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises straight flaky biscuit, with a touch of caramel, honey, light grass, and mild flowers. Something peanut-brittle-y comes to mind. The taste doesn't do anybody any favors, either: Buttery caramel, buttery biscuits, something akin to buttery popcorn (did I mention I got a tad bit of butter in this beer?), and a stiff yet understated (yeah, wrap your minds around that one...my tongue did...) backbone of menthol, which bolts through the sea of malt every now and again. Nothing about this is right. The body is a light moderate, with a very light moderate carbonation and a somehow skinnily syrupy feel. Overall, this was an absolute mess of a beer. I almost hope it was old or a bad bottle or something, 'cause the grimace that crossed my face after sipping it lasted for several grueling minutes to follow. Bad times.

The beer pours a dark golden/amber color with a 1/2" off-white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a pretty interesting scent that boasts of pale and light crystal malts along with a nice hop spiciness and minimal yeast esters. The taste is decent as well. It has a damn smooth pale malt flavor. It goes down smooth and creamy with a spicy yeast/hop finish. The hop character is oustanding. The mouthfeel is good. It's a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is an easy drinking pale ale that's balancd and quite sessionable.

Pours a clear, copper/gold color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and poor lacing. Smells pale malt, sweet malt, slight grain, citrus (lemon), and slight hop. Fits the style of a Belgian Pale Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of pale malt, sweet malt, slight yeast, slight grain, hint of citrus, and a hint of hop. Overall, weak bodied, overly grainy, but good mouth feel.

Ok, my efforts thus far to enjoy a S. American beer (or any beer south of the Rio Grande) have been fruitless. I haven't tried that many, so here we go...

Nice pour. Light golden and clean. Actually color to it and a nice head. Nothing spectacular, but decent.

This is listed on BA as a BPA, and I see why, or smell why. While not a strong aroma, it's not bad, and full of clove, spice and soft fruit. Some florals.

Soft spice on first sip. A solid, but not overbearing malt backbone comes into play. Biscuit..wet. Floral and clove and/or coriander. No flavor is really all that strong. The lack of a yeasty middle and finish, for me, defies the Belgian-i-ness. Although, it does not have a huge hop profile either. If this were a bit more carbonated it would be quite the summer quencher. Overall, I"m impressed with this one. If I go to Brasil (Olympics/World Cup) I'll look for this one.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a caramel color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very mild, some notes of malts. Taste is of malts and hops, slightly bitter, not bad. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and has decent drinkability. Overall this is a fairly good beer.

Never saw this one before so I thought I'd give it a try.

Poured into my pint glass the beer is clear golden yellow. With just a wisp of stark white head. A bit of soapy lace is left behind.

The aroma is light hops with sweet grainy malt. Wheaty with hints of corn.

The flavor is mostly malt and tortilla chips. It tastes more like a pilsner then a IPA. Not bad but nothing special.

The body is light with a ton of carbonation.

Overall a average pilsner trying to be an IPA. Glad I got to try it though.

I found this single 12oz brown bottle at the Binny's in Glen Ellyn, IL for $2.19. I though that was a bit pricey for a Brazilian beer as that would make these run over $12 a six pack, so I hope it's good. The label says this bottle is from batch #20, but that doesn't help me much in the way of knowing its freshness date. The S.A.P.A. stands for South American Pale Ale.

The beer poured a really nice crystal clear shade of golden/orange amber and made a creamy white 3-finger head, but it only lasted about 30 seconds and left only a few drops of lacing or I would have given it a higher appearance score.

There is not too much smell to this - just a bit of earthiness and a trace of spicy hops.

The taste was both interesting and enjoyable. It had a nice balance of sweet malt and spicy hops with the spicy hops perhaps winning the battle for dominance. This is a very mild beer - sweet, but not too sweet, spicy, but not too spicy, with just a touch of fruit and bitterness thrown in for good measure.

It has a smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel to it with mild carbonation. The low 5.1% abv makes it an easy drinker, and unlike a lot of South and Central American beers, this one doesn't need to be ice cold to drink. This one actually holds up well and even improves as it warms a bit. I wasn't expecting much, so I was pleasantly surprised that this stuff turned out to be as good as it was.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a modest head that fizzes away with out much stickage

Smell: Bubblegum, banana, powdered sugar and a hint of vanilla

Taste: Biscuity, up front, with the sweet bubblegum and banana flavors arriving quickly; by mid-palate, there is a bitter undercurrent that is rather herbal and medicinal; after the swallow, the sweet flavors return but are stymied by the medicinal aspect

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: This is batch 38, and may be a little bit old, which could account for the medicinal flavors; if the sweetness and a more effective counterpoint, this would be a much better beer
