Poured out as a light golden color with a soap white head on top. No retention or lacing on this at all. The smell of the beer is malty, not not of a hop profile or anything. The taste of malty with a decent subtle bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is drinkable, kind of dry. Overall it's a beer... Not much to really wrote home about.

Poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass

Appearance: Caramel color with a half finger head

Smell: Barley, malt, cloves; really opens up the olfactory with a clean feeling.

Taste: toasty, malty with caramel tones; slightly bitter finish that quickly diminishes

Mouthfeel: Medium; good carbonation

Overall: A very nice English Pale Ale that drinks like a very nice American Brown Ale. Enveloping, rich. A smooth, by-the-fire feel. Recommended.

this beer pours a dark brown color, red highlights, and a dark head. the aroma speaks strongly of the roasted malts used, with just a bit of the hop profile coming through at the back. the taste is very sweet and roasted caramel. Not much in the way of hop bitterness to balance it, but with the full body and good carbonation, it is a pretty tasty beverage.

Friend of mine saw this in a store and got some for St Pattys Day and shared one with me.

A: Light fizzy head that fades quickly, clear but super dark brown copper color.

N: Caramel, sweet malts, red ale malts, some toasty, some roasty porter aromas, red ale and light hops.

T: Semi crisp ale, sweet malts, slightly roasty and toasty red ale malts, some dark porter flavors, slight pale bitter hops, little spicy hop character too.

M: Lighter body but not too bad, decent carbonation.

F: Semi spicy bitter hops come through with a little lingering sweet malty syrup taste but still finishes semi dry. Crisp clean finish, copper malt lingering with it.

500ml bottle bought from The Vintage, Antrim...

Poured a deep coppery amber colour... Creamy tan head poured big and foamy and faded to a nice thin layer...

Aroma - Sweet caramel / toffee malts, spicy hops, raisins, figs, treacle notes, some nuttiness...

Taste – Nice spicy hop bitterness, biscuity malts, light creaminess, chocolate notes, noticable alcohol, floral...

Feel - Pretty sharp and dry. Medium body. Pretty drinkable....

Overall - A pretty good beer.... Recommended....

500ml bottled

Pours with a dark amber body, verging on scotch ale colour as its almost a chocolaty brown, fairly good creamy head with fair retention, some lacing

Smell, ohhh, lots of loverly esters, thick hint of malt, some sweetness coming off, some hints of english hops

Taste, sweet and a really creamy mouthfeel, some hint of caramel, good solid mouthfeel, nice bitterness on the finish

A fantastic local ale, odd, very low carbonation as with most of thier stuff (legbiter aside, this ale, the best and gold are all very low in carbonation). I dont mind it, very drinkable and very much like the cask version
