Purchased at the LCBO for around $2.75 for a 473ml can. Served at 6deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a small head that is gone in no time. Medium gold color and filtered clear

S- A hint of smokiness to it. Good malt and hop base.

T- Has that smokiness taste but very little making it very palatable and enjoyable. Heavy hops for a north American beer style. Like it.

M- Creaminess. Other than that North American style of beer

O- Pretty good. Will buy again for a camping trip for sure

Food Pairing

This nice brew went well with..... Fresh caught fish. Salt, pepper and dusted with flour and tasty good!

Enjoy

Very slight haze in the light golden colour. One inch of fine white head. Streams of carbonation with some retention.

Mild hops aroma. Steely and floral.

Mild cky malt taste with mild grassy and floral hop bitterness.

Medium mouthfeel with good carbonation feel.

A generic mild ale. Drinkable but I will not buy it again.

473 ml can purchased from LCBO for $2.65 CDN. Served cold into a pint glass.

Appearance - Decently rich golden color, with few bubbles apparent. Capped by a finger of white head which doesn't last too long. Crystal clear.

Smell - Some grains and floral notes. A touch of a metallic twang. Pretty good for the style.

Taste - Some grain to start things of before a sweet creamed corn blast mid sip. After that relents its back to grain. Inoffensive, but clear use of adjuncts and the creamed corn is unusual mid-sip.

Mouthfeel - Smooth and quite creamy, lower than average carbonation and mild finish.

Overall - Decent lager that's a step up from the macro brands, but not spectacular. If you really like creamed corn though, you may rather enjoy this since there's a healthy dose of that in the flavor.

473ml Can from the Ottawa LCBO for $2.50

Appearance - Clear yellow colour with an average size white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for around 2-3 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Skunk, bread, corn, apples

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, corn and apples. There is also a light breadiness and a some grassy notes. It ends with a bready/grainy aftertaste.

Overall - Bleh.. I should have known better when I saw 'Serve Ice Cold!' on the side of the can. A decent summer lawnmower beer, but just a notch above macro.

473 mL can from the LCBO. Now branded simply as 'Georgian Bay Beer', still brewed at Hockley for the Midland Beer Works in Tiny, ON. I had a can of this a few weeks ago and didn't mind it, so I picked up another to review. Served ice cold.

Pours a bright golden-yellow hue, topped with one half-finger of foamy white head that quickly dies down into a soapy cap and narrow collar. Kind of flat and dull-looking, with a subdued aroma of bready palt malts, cereal grains, honey and a light wisp of floral hops and apple juice. Appropriate for the style, but not a bouquet that really gets my hopes up.

Straightforward, relatively clean taste - pale grains, bready malts and corn flakes give way to a tinny, grassy note from the hops. The finish is a little vegetal/corny for my liking, but otherwise fairly dry. Corny aftertaste that disappears in a flash. Light-bodied, but not thin or watery; moderate carbonation for the style. Smooth, refreshing, and quite drinkable.

Final Grade: 3.33, a B-. Georgian Bay Beer is probably one of the better 'no frills' pale lagers/blonde ales I've tried over the last few months, easily beating out stuff like Rock Cut Lager, as well as this brewery's Hockley 100. It's a simple, almost bland offering that I could easily drink all night while seated next to a campfire by the lake. This is slightly better than macro equivalents like Canadian or Blue, but it's also slightly more expensive. Personally, I think it's worth the upgrade - I enjoyed this glass and it really hit the spot tonight - but your mileage may vary, as this is totally not the type of beer that is going to stoke the interest of most BAs.

I tried this beer on June 11, 2011 after purchasing from the Queen's Quay LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a pale gold colour with a small white cap. The aroma was skunky malt and vomit. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was graint malt, and acidic hops...not enjoyable at all.

Got this in a generous trade with korguy123 . Can into a standard pint glass. Pours a pale gold with little head and no lacing. Nose is pale malts, floral and grain. Taste is grain, breadiness and malt with not much distinctive flavor. Mouthfeel is thin and a bit slick. Almost no carbonation is felt or observed. Not the worst beer I have ever had but not something I would seek out again.

Can:

light gold pour. smallish white cap, decent lacing.

Fresh cereal aromas with some apple tones and grassiness.

Lightly malty up front with some nondescript mild hop balance, thin mouth feel with a fast clean finish.

I realize this is a squid beer for the masses but I expected more from this brewer

Found this at Waterdown LCBO, never had it before but thought I'd give it a shot. This poured a bright yellow with a thin white ring floating on top. Smell is sweet, some malt and some corn in the nose. Taste is a little weak, corn dominates the aftertaste however the body is thin. Served cold, it's definitely refreshing enough and on a hot day this would certainly hit the spot, however it's the beginning of March and hot days are at least two months away.

Honestly, this reminds me a bit of a cleaner less headache inducing version of Canadian. For what it is it's not bad, however with so much more out there this is not one I would actively seek out again in the future.

Thought I'd give this a try - my cottage is on Georgian bay, just outside of Midland, so it's a name close to my heart.

Poured a deep golden, almost amber colour, leaving a thin foamy head. Lots of visible carbonation, as per the fizzy lager style. No real lacing to speak of, but I'm not surprised.

The smell isn't offensive: light malts, a bit of apple or grape, some light caramel. Not bad.

The taste is fine, nothing too exciting, but for an adjunct, I'm not disappointed. A bit too sweet of a lager for my tastes, and the finish is a bit tinny, but not bad. Light malts, not much in the way of hops, except a bit of citrus near the end. Bland, but inoffensive.

Thin, well-carbonated.

I'll have to try this one again in the summer. I'm still searching for good examples of that "I just want a beer" lager taste, and I'm not sure this one hits the mark. Certainly drinkable, however.
